Hill: "I'm Expecting A Bounce From Our Players"

4 January 2018

Manager Keith Hill insists his side will learn from their defeat at Doncaster Rovers a week ago, ahead of the Emirates FA Cup third round tie between the teams.

Dale were 2-0 down inside the opening half hour at the Keepmoat Stadium, and couldn’t claw the game back despite creating a number of chances.

Hill has been analysing that defeat ahead of Saturday’s tie, and is expecting a bounce from the squad.

“It’s game on and it’s something we're looking forward to,” said Hill.

“You’ve got to dust yourself down and prepare yourself for every game. Every day is a preparation day and we’ve got to be positive going into the cup fixtures.

“We’ve got to learn from what happened in the early stages of the league game and that game itself, which we will.

“Our game plan was torn to pieces within the first 10 minutes, so we’ve continued to assess and evaluate what went on in that game. We were watching it again this morning in preparation for the game on Saturday.

“It’s the cup, which is superb, on a great pitch at a good stadium, and we’re playing against a good opposition that are in confident form, but like I said after the Blackpool game, I’m expecting a bounce from our group of players and I’m sure we’ll get one against Doncaster.”

Hill also confirmed that Joe Rafferty is expected to be back with the squad for the weekend after recovering from injury, although Steven Davies has joined Niall Canavan (ankle) on the long-term injury list due to a groin problem sustained against Doncaster Rovers last week.
