Keith Hill Pleased With The Performance Levels Ahead Of Wigan Game

23 February 2018

Manager Keith Hill spoke to iFollow ahead of Saturday’s League One fixture against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium…

Dale head into the match having lost just one of their last six games in all competitions, and Hill believes that’s a positive as his side enter the run-in.

“We’ve lost one in the last six games, so we’re not losing a lot of football matches, which is important as we look forward to the Wigan game,” said the Gaffer.

“The lads are ready for the games. Whether we’re good enough or not, that’s a question that will probably only be answered after 46 games. I’m pleased with the players and the performance levels, and if we cut out the mistakes, then we’ll be fine.

“I expect the players to be able to express themselves, free of pressure and fear. If they do that, then they’re a match for everybody. They’ve shown courage and energy and they’re fit, and if they show the brains, then we’ve got a fair chance of winning any football match.”

On Saturday, Rochdale face a Wigan Athletic side that dumped Manchester City out of the Emirates FA Cup on Monday night. The Latics currently sit third in the League One table, three points behind leaders Blackburn Rovers, having played three games less.

“Wigan have had a stand-out season. It’ll be a difficult task for us but one that we’re looking forward to.

“I thought they were magnificent against City and for them to beat, in my opinion, the best team in the world right now, it’ll be a big mountain for us to climb.

“They’re the best League One side in this division and I expect them to get promoted.”
