Hart Excited To Be Back At Rochdale

30 August 2018

Sam Hart says he is excited to be back at Rochdale Football Club, after returning for a second spell on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joins from Championship side Blackburn Rovers, having spent four months at the Crown Oil Arena on loan last season.

“I’m really happy,” said Hart. “I’ve got a bond with the Football Club and the people here, so I’m excited to be back.

“I know the lads, the manager and all the staff, so it should be quite easy for me to settle in and get doing what I need to do.

“It’s different circumstances this time around, but I’m hoping to hit the ground running.”

“I’ve been in touch with the Gaffer the whole window and he wanted to get me in earlier, so I’m just happy to be here and happy to play under him again.

“I need experience and I need to play football. I’m a footballer at heart and that’s what I want to do, I want to get on the pitch and play and hopefully I can do that here.”

Hart made three appearances for Dale whilst on loan last season, including coming on as a substitute in the dramatic final day win over Charlton Athletic, which secured Dale’s Sky Bet League One status for another season.

“It’s something I’ll never forget. Joe Thompson scoring the goal to keep us up was a big thing for him and for all of us involved.

“It’s something that I’ll take with me for the rest of my footballing career.”

The defender joins the contingent of players at Dale to have come through the famous Liverpool FC Academy, joining Joe Rafferty, MJ Williams and Connor Randall, whilst he also kept in touch with the rest of last season’s Dale squad.

“I’m very close with Jordan and Connor from my time at Liverpool, but it’s not just them two, I’ve got a close bond with all of the lads now.

“I’ve kept in touch with most of them over the summer, so it will be good to see them again.”
