Preview: Bury v Dale - Checkatrade Trophy

18 September 2017

Bury v Dale: Checkatrade Trophy, Tuesday 19th September, 7.45pm Kick-Off

Rochdale kick-off their Checkatrade Trophy campaign with a trip to local rivals Bury on Tuesday night.

It is the first of three group stage matches for both sides. The other two teams in Group C, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City Under-21s, played their opening fixture a fortnight previously, with Rovers running out 1-0 winners at Ewood Park.

It will be the second meeting between the two sides this season, after the league meeting at the Crown Oil Arena ended goalless.

Manager Keith Hill has revealed that 16-year-old midfielder Daniel Adshead will be involved. Read more HERE.

Supporters who didn't purchase an advance ticket can pay on the night at Gigg Lane.

Dale’s previous visit to Gigg Lane saw a stunning strike from Callum Camps secure a 1-0 victory.

Camps struck a free-kick from distance in first half stoppage time, which was too powerful for Bury stopper Joe Murphy.

It was the only goal of the game, and saw Dale move to within three points of a playoff spot.

Dale’s first campaign in the revamped Checkatrade Trophy saw them finish as Group winners in 2016/17, before exiting at the second-round stage.
