We will welcome the Friends of Carnegie Library and staff and clients from Rochdale and District Mind to the Crown Oil Arena when we host Blackburn Rovers this Saturday.
The Friends of Carnegie, based in Castleton, were formed in 2011. They were concerned at the condition of the library building and its state of disrepair, and the group didn't want to lose a significant piece of local heritage.
The building is currently being renovated by a local benefactor for commercial use and will be home to the Friends group, where a space will be provided to create a local Heritage Centre and a small museum commemorating Andrew Carnegie, the US Philanthropist who financed the building of the library in 1905.

The Rochdale and District Mind Football group is part of the successful Sport England funded ‘Get Set to Go’ multi-sports project that has from time to time involved coaches from our own Community Trust.
The group who meet on a Tuesday and Thursday from 2pm at the Soccer Factory invite you to join them. Along with football matches, they also organise day trips and support those with various mental health issues.
