Chris Brown On Youth Team's Comeback Victory

15 October 2017

PDP Lead Coach Chris Brown spoke to iFollow after the Youth Team came from 2-0 down at half time to beat Preston North End 3-2 at Bower Fold…

“It was a bit of a whirlwind of a game,” said Brown.

“First half I thought we were okay, but we were a bit naïve in our decision making when defending.

“Second half our application and attitude changed and we actually wanted to run and wanted to get on the ball.

“I thought Aaron [Morley] was superb with that, and as a team performance we were more positive and wanted to win.

“Some of the second half play as absolutely superb. Lewis Bradley was not on the ball as much, but what he did for the team was superb. Fabio [Tavares] and Neil [Kuemo] were really good as were the rest of the boys.”

Two goals in a minute just after the hour mark drew Brown’s side level, before they grabbed the winner four minutes from time, in a second half that was all Dale.

“We had more impetus, more conviction going forward and more aggression. On the ball we had more quality.

“First half we didn’t retain the ball at all and second half we had good movement and picked it up in great spaces. We got the ball wide and got the ball into the number ten and the strikers.

“We were more of a threat, and I think that was just down to us and our character really. It was definitely a tale of two halves.

“I was really pleased with the lads and I think they deserved it. We sort of turned a leaf as a team in 45 minutes, so hopefully we can continue with that.

“All three goals were really well taken, and we’ve been working on that in training – being clinical and making it count in the final third.”
