Chris Brown Delighted With Victory Over Wrexham

20 November 2017

PDP Lead Coach Chris Brown was delighted with the Youth Team’s performance in their 3-1 victory over Wrexham on Saturday.

They raced into a 3-0 lead at half-time, and had chances to add to that in the second period.

“The stuff we’ve been working on this week is in the final third, so seeing goals go in, it shows they’re putting into practice what we’re doing on the training pitch,” said Brown.

“The first goal was a surprise – I didn’t think James [Neild] had that overhead kick in him! It was a superb finish.

“The chances we created as well as the goals we scored were superb. We should have scored more goals in the second half, but the start to the first half was unbelievable really.

“We still created some good opportunities to score [in the second half], but people were just in the wrong areas. We should have scored at least two more goals.

“I thought how we competed and how we defended was a stepping stone for the way we attacked.”

After James Neild’s stunning overhead kick, a goal apiece from Neil Kuemo and Fabio Tavares continued their fine form in front of goal.

“Neil and Fabio scored really good goals. They were team goals, showed composure in the box, and their techniques were really good.

“It’s what they should be doing every week. They’re on ten and nine respectively now for the season, but I think they can get more. They can definitely get more than 20 goals this season – that’s the aim for both of them.”
