Ollie Rathbone spoke to iFollow after his Man of the Match performance in Dale’s 2-0 win over Peterborough United...
“We’re really happy to get the three points today, especially after Tuesday night where I thought we deserved more,” said Rathbone.
“We're without a league game for a couple of weeks now, so it was important to get some points on the board. It was a big performance from us - the manner of the performance was pleasing.
“I don’t think today’s performance was too dissimilar to Tuesday night.”
Rathbone was given the task of man-marking Marcus Madison, and the midfielder kept the Posh dangerman quiet all game.
“I found it a bit of an honour, really. It shows that the Manager has a lot of trust in me, and I’m pleased that I can do that job. I don’t mind doing it as long as I can help the team, I don’t mind where I play.
“It’s something you kind of have to teach yourself, almost. You’ve got to concentrated the whole time. It doesn’t start at the first whistle, it starts the night before. You’ve just got to go out there and do your best job.”
Calvin Andrew opened the scoring just after the half hour mark, and Rathbone praised the contribution of the forward, who extended his contract with the Club until 2019 during the week.
“Everyone loves Calvin – he’s brilliant. He does so much more for the team that its unfair that he doesn’t always get himself in position to score goals. He’s usually either tracking a runner or winning a header that leads to a goal.”
