Jordan Slew Pleased To Get On The Scoresheet For The First Time

8 November 2017

Jordan Slew was delighted to score his first goal for the club on Tuesday night, after netting in Rochdale’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy.

His second half goal ensured the game went to penalties, which Dale won, meaning Keith Hill’s side claimed two points from the fixture, sealing safe passage to the knockout stages.

“It has been a while since I’ve scored so I’m happy to get on the scoresheet tonight,” said Slew.

“I feel like I’ve still got a bit of sharpness to catch up on, and I started to feel it [tiredness] towards the end, but it’s in the bank now. I feel like the fitness is nearly there and I’m really enjoying myself, so hopefully I can keep kicking on and I can get more minutes.”

And Slew is equally as delighted that Dale are through to the knockout stages of the competition, with the side all but confirmed as group winners.

“We knew the most important thing was to get a win, at least on penalties. We knew that we weren’t certain to go through with the other game going on tomorrow night, so we’re happy to get the two points and get through the group.”
