The Gaffer On Recruitment

4 May 2017

Manager Keith Hill has told Dale PlayerHD that there will be no immediate recruitment.

After announcing his retained/ released on Wednesday, he said: “I want a squad of 24 players. I want 22 outfield players and two goalkeepers.

“I wouldn’t expect any recruitment within the next four to six weeks. We will allow the players who are out of contract to assess and evaluate their options, but I do have meetings with players that I would like to recruit to replace.

“In the past four years, we’ve done unbelievable business the closer we’ve got to, and including, August – Keith Keane, Steven Davies, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Jack O’Connell and Conrad Logan.

“It’s also good to get solid business under your belt as a manager and I believe we’ve done that in retaining players like Joe Bunney and Calvin Andrew earlier in the season, and there are far too many others to mention.

“We’ve got a good nucleus of players going through to next season that I’m excited about working with, and I will add to these when necessary.”
