Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce that Matty Gillam has put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
The 18-year-old has signed a one-year deal. The club also has an option in its favour.
Gillam, a product of Dale’s Academy, impressed during the 2016/17 campaign, after netting 22 goals.
He trained regularly with the first team during the season and made one appearance for Keith Hill’s side, with his debut coming away at Hartlepool in the Checkatrade Trophy. It was a memorable game for the teenager, who scored in the 2-1 win. He was also been named on the bench on four occasions.
“I’m delighted to have signed my Rochdale contract,” said Gillam.
“For the last two years, I’ve been working towards trying to get offered one and I’m delighted to have signed it.
“I can’t wait for pre-season, because the work has already started for me as I get prepared before pre-season for a big year ahead.”
