Ian Henderson Hits 100 Goal Milestone

27 March 2017

Hendo reaches career milestone…

Ian Henderson’s cheeky chip against Chesterfield on Saturday was his 100th career goal.

Hendo opened the scoring at the Proact Stadium, as Dale recorded a 3-1 win over the Spireites.

Speaking after game, he commented: “I’m happy to have scored 100 goals. It’s a nice milestone – it has been a long road, as they say. I’d like to thank Sammy Morgan who was my first mentor at Norwich City.

"He was the Academy director there and probably one of the only people who believed in me. He showed me the ways to score goals and showed incredible belief in me, so it’s a massive thanks to him.”

But the modest Hendo says Saturday was about getting the three points.

“It’s nice to score 100 goals but it’s not about me, it’s about the team. Today we were hot in the box in the first half and to go 3-0 up is credit to the boys. We’re creating a lot of chances at the minute, so it’s nice to get the three points.”

Hendo has netted 16 goals in all competitions so far this season and admits the side are in good goal scoring form.

“It [scoring 20 goals in a season] is always a target at the beginning of the season. We’re in relatively good goal scoring form at the moment but, again, it’s not about me. We’ve got three or four players who are in double figures, so the goals are coming from lots of different players which is nice to see because it means there’s no pressure on just one individual to score all the goals.”
