Dave Sweetmore Set To Depart At The End Of The Season

21 March 2017

After 17-years of dedicated service, Dave Sweetmore will be leaving us at the end of the season.

Dave, the club’s matchday announcer, is off to pastures new after being offered the opportunity to take up a career in pub and hotel management in the Lake District.

Famed for his Indie and Manchester music, Dave created an identity for the club and is highly regarded in the football industry, with his matchday tunes regularly attracting coverage in the local and national media.

We would like to thank Dave for his hard-work and dedicated service to the club over the last 17-years. Everyone at the club will miss him. We wish Dave all the best and every success in his new venture.

Dave commented: "Leaving Rochdale Football Club after 17 years is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make but I simply can't turn down the opportunity to start a new career.

"The club has been a massive part of my life for such a long time and I've loved every minute of it. I've met some amazing people through the years, who've made coming to the Crown Oil Arena an absolute pleasure.

"I've been overwhelmed by the number of messages received since the news was made public and I can't thank everyone enough."

As a result, we are now looking to a recruit a new matchday announcer. Experience is preferable. Please send your CV to frances@rochdaleafc.co.uk The closing date is Tuesday 28th March 2017. This is to allow the new recruit to shadow Dave before his departure at the end of the season.
