Jack Redshaw, who had been training with the squad since the players’ return for pre-season, has joined Salford City FC.
The forward put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the National League North side on Saturday afternoon.
“I spoke with Jack yesterday,” Manager Keith Hill told iFollow.
“He needs to play, but is he going to play for me on a regular basis? Is he going to be a starter? It would be very difficult.
“I’ve got to look at the players that I’ve got. I gave him the opportunity to train with us and it was always the case, and he knew that. I’ve been honest with him and his agent.
“I’m sure he’ll be a massive success for Salford, but from my perspective, it’s a shame that he’s not playing league football, but I’m sure he will be one day with Salford.
“He’ll score loads of goals for Salford, who are a growing outfit. I’m sure their aim is to get into the EFL, and they’ve got a chance to do that with the likes of Jack Redshaw playing for them.
“As I said, I think that Jack’s still a football league player, but he’s done the right thing for himself and his family.”
We wish Jack the very best of luck for the future.
