We Were Worthy Winners - Keith Hill

2 January 2017

Manager Keith Hill reflects on Dale’s 2-0 win over Walsall at the Banks’s Stadium…

“We’re just rolling into each game now and we’re not giving too much consideration to what we’ve done,” the told Dale PlayerHD.

“We’re enjoying the way we’re supporting each other – the players, the staff & the supporters, everybody.

“It’s a common sense approach that we’re taking into each game, and, listen, I think we’re a good side.”

He continued: “They could have been 1-0 up, but like I said to the lads, teams are going to show us a lot more respect and they’re going to try and clear the way for other teams to try and beat us. I’ve told the lads to embrace the way we’re playing and play through whatever the opposition are trying to do to stop us. And that’s what’s happening now, teams are trying to stop us.

“Ian Henderson scored a good goal and it gave us breathing space but we were worthy winners in the second half, and I think we should have scored more.

“I was really pleased with the way we put out the fires that Walsall created in the first 20 minutes, and I think after that we started controlling procedures. We started playing through the press, we started getting the ball out wide, we were creating 2v1s and we had good numbers in the box. I was really pleased with the way that we did that.”
