Make The Most Of The Remaining 21 League Games - Keith Hill

13 January 2017

Manager Keith has been looking ahead to Rochdale's League One fixture v Southend United at Roots Hall...

Dale sit fifth in the Sky Bet League One table going into the game, having accumulated 45 points from the first 25 games of the season. With 21 league matches left to play, Hill wants to make the most of it.

“There has got to be a focus maintained for the remainder of the season,” said Hill.

“There are 21 games, plus cup games, to really, really have a good season.

“We’ve got an intention to make the most of what is now a condensed calendar, because the season is virtually over within three months. You’ve got to make the most of those opportunities, and the first opportunity that represents itself is Southend away on Saturday.”

Dale beat the Shrimpers 3-0 when the sides met at the Crown Oil Arena in October, but Saturday’s opponents have lost just one game since then.

Hill recognises that Phil Brown's side are in good form but says we’ve got to concentrate on ourselves.

“They’ve changed the way they play since we played them earlier in the season. They’re in good form and we’re looking forward to the game.

“We concentrate more on ourselves than we do on the opposition. We give due respect to the opposition but it’s about what we do.

“We’ve got to hit certain markers for us to perform at our best and we’re obviously very conscious of what we do and how we do things. We’re mapping it out and we’re getting data – not just physical data, but data about what do when we’re in possession and what we do when we’re out of possession. As long as we’re hitting those points of necessity, then we’re happy and reasonably pleased that we will get results.”
