Mark Kitching joined Rochdale on loan from Middlesbrough on Friday, becoming Manager Keith Hill’s second new recruit of the week.
The 21-year-old left-back, who is also comfortable playing in midfield, put pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Kitching played in a behind closed doors game for Dale on Tuesday before training with the lads on Friday and he says he’s got a good feel for the club.
“I’ve enjoyed it a lot and I’ve think I’ve settled in quite quickly.
“There’s a great bunch of lads here and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed training. I can’t wait to get started now.”
It’s Kitching’s second loan spell away from Boro, after spending a month at York City last season. He says he feels it’s important for him to play competitive football.
“I’m 21-years-old now so I want to be playing first team football. I think I’m ready to start playing some games and I want to kick on from here.”
This season, Kitching was involved in the Middlesbrough U23 side which competed in the Checkatrade Trophy for the time, taking on Cambridge United, Scunthorpe United and Shrewsbury Town.
“I really enjoyed the competition. It was a good to go against League One and League Two opposition – it was a great experience for the lads.”
