Rochdale Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Joel Taylor from Premier League club Stoke City.
The highly-rated left-back, who can also operate as a winger, has joined Dale until the end of the season.
It’s the 20-year-old’s first move away from the Bet365 Stadium and he's delighted to be here: “I’m very excited to be joining a club like Rochdale.
“I’ve been training with the boys for the last couple days and I’ve enjoyed it here, so I’m pleased to have joined on loan.
“I’m also very excited to be playing under Keith Hill, who is a great manager. He knows how to get the best out of his players and I think that will help me with my future development.
“I know that he puts his trust in young players, so I feel like he’ll put his trust in me and I will repay him for that.”
Taylor is a product of the Potters’ youth system. Having joined the club at under 14-level, he has progressed through the youth ranks and into the first team set-up.
Taylor has appeared on Stoke City's first team bench on a number of occasions, including within the last fortnight when he was named as a substitute for their league clash against Sunderland. He says his involvement with the senior squad at Stoke has had a positive impact on his development.
“Stoke have high standards and I believe that you have to be at your best in every training session and every game that you play in, so I think [being involved with the first team] has helped me get to where I am today.
“They have top class players at the club, and being in that environment – training and playing games – has helped me develop as a player. It has also let me see where I want to go and where I want to be.”
He will wear squad number 30 during his time at the Crown Oil Arena.
