Rochdale reached the quarter finals of the Lancashire Senior Cup on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Everton’s U23 side at Finch Farm.
Goals from Donal McDermott, Andy Cannon and James Hooper secured the victory.
McDermott opened the scoring from a free-kick six minutes into the second half, and Cannon doubled Dale’s advantage 20 minutes later after finishing at the near post. Hooper netted the third of the game after getting on the end of a Nathaniel Mendez-Laing cutback with just minutes left to play.
There was a welcome return from injury for Peter Vincenti who made a second half appearance from the bench, playing his first minutes since undergoing an ankle operation in October.
Rochdale will take on Barrow in the next round. A date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course.
