Business As Usual - Chris Brown

10 January 2017

Academy YDY Lead Chris Brown discusses the Youth Team’s start to the New Year…

Dale’s under 18s had hoped to play their first game in five weeks on Saturday, but their game against Port Vale was called off due to fog.

“The lads were a bit frustrated,” said Brown.

“It has been a while since we’ve played, but we can’t fight nature – it’s just something that has happened.”

In the side’s last outing, on December 4th, they beat Preston North End 2-1, and Brown says it has been business as usual since.

“We’ve been training as normal, despite the call-offs. The lads had a few days off over Christmas but we got straight back into training on January 2nd.

“They've been working hard, and their attitude and application throughout has been really good. There has been a bit of quality as well, which has been good.”

Dale are scheduled to play Burnley at the Abbey Stadium this Saturday, but with snow forecast during the latter part of the week, Brown has got everything crossed that the game goes ahead.

“We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed, but if it gets called off, then it gets called off. We’ll have a normal week, we’ll prepare as we usually do for every game, and if it goes ahead, then we’ll be raring to go.”
