To End The Game Like That Was Very Disappointing - Calvin Andrew

20 February 2017

Calvin Andrew admits it was “very disappointing” to only claim a point from Saturday’s League One fixture against Charlton Athletic.

Rochdale were ahead on two occasions but were forced to settle for a share of the spoils when Jorge Teixeira netted with two minutes of the game remaining.

Andrew told Dale PlayerHD: “I thought we played really well and to end the game like that was very disappointing for the guys.

“They [Charlton Athletic] stuck to task but I think we flattered them with the result. Personally, I think we were the better side, but all credit to them, teams have got to keep digging deep and keep putting us under pressure, so well done to them.”

Dale netted three goals in the draw and Andrew says that’s something positive to take from the match.

“We haven’t been as potent going forward in the last couple of games, but from the start of the game you could see that we were on it going forward and very offensive. It’s definitely something to take from the game but we’re still a bit disappointed with the result.”

Andrew has been playing with a face mask since fracturing his cheek bone against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup. Despite the injury, he says it’s important that he just gets on with it.

“It [playing with the face mask] is a little bit uncomfortable, but it’s not an excuse. At the end of the day, I’m paid to do my job regardless of a mask or a broken cheek bone, so I just go out there and get on with it.”
