January Transfer Window Recap

1 February 2017

A summary of the goings-on at the club during the January transfer window…

January proved to be a busy month for Manager Keith Hill with a number of arrivals, departures and contract extension signings taking place.

As soon as the window opened on January 1st, David Owusu became the first player to pen to paper as he signed his first professional contract.

January 3rd saw Keith Keane make a permanent 18-month switch to Dale from Cambridge United following a successful loan spell at the Crown Oil Arena.

Goalkeeper Conrad Logan was the next player to commit to the club, signing a deal until the end of the season.

As the month progressed, Joe Bunney penned a contract extension until the summer of 2018 on the same day that Jack Redshaw joined Dale on loan from Blackpool for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign.

This was before Joel Taylor, Mark Kitching and Ben Wilson all linked up with Manager Keith Hill.

Taylor joined the club on loan from Stoke City until the end of the season as did Wilson from Cardiff City, while Kitching, who had initially joined on loan until the summer, became Hill’s final dealing of the transfer window, with the 21-year-old putting pen to paper on an 18-month deal before the 11pm deadline.

In addition, the club said goodbye to James Hooper, Sanmi Odelusi and Scott Tanser during January. We would once again like to wish the three players the very best of luck for the future.

All of this followed a December where Jamie Allen, Calvin Andrew and Joe Thompson all committed their long-term futures to the club.
