FA Cup Flashback: Carlisle United 0-2 Rochdale

3 December 2017

Ahead of Monday night’s Emirates FA Cup tie away at Slough Town, we look back at last season’s second round tie.

Having beaten Maidstone United 2-0 at the Crown Oil Arena in a first-round replay, Dale faced a trip to Cumbria to take on a Carlisle United side that hadn't lost at home all season.

Keith Hill’s side created a number of chances in the first-half but couldn’t break the deadlock.

However, it took Steven Davies just three second-half minutes to open the scoring, with his deflected volley on the turn beating Mark Gillespie.

Joe Bunney struck the woodwork with ten minutes remaining as Dale pushed for a second, which came through Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s stoppage time strike.
