Club & Community Trust Receive Top Marks From Local School

14 December 2017

Rochdale AFC and Dale In The Community Sports Trust have received top marks from a local school after a recent visit.

Dale In The Community Sports Trust coaches spent a full week at St Mary's RC Primary School in Bacup, and Dale forward Calvin Andrew also held a Q&A session with Year Six pupils.

Deputy Head Alastair Torr thanked the Club and Community Trust for their positive impact during the week.

"As a school, we found our experience with Rochdale AFC to be excellent.

"They were accommodating, friendly and proactive in their sessions. Behaviour management, which can be very challenging in our school, was very good.

"School staff were impressed with the differentiation of activities and how they were tailored to suit the children regardless of their age.

"It was unfortunate that the week Rochdale came in, the weather was extremely poor and it largely scuppered most of the week’s plans to do sessions outside in the playground and forced to do them in our hall. Despite this, the coaches still put in excellent sessions with specific learning objectives including ball control, passing, catching etc.

"I was also particularly impressed that Calvin Andrew found the time to come and speak to the children. For the children at St Mary’s, to have a professional footballer and role model to come and speak to them and have their pictures taken, will be a fond memory that they will cherish.

"Thank you for doing an outstanding job and for having such a positive impact within our school during your stay. A special mention to the coaches who were first class."
