The Youth Team get their league season underway with a trip to Shrewsbury Town tomorrow.
They were originally kicking off the season on 5th August, but both their opening matches have been postponed.
Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Chris Brown says the Youth Team players are excited to finally get their season underway.
“It’s been a few weeks now, so the lads are raring to go this weekend. They’ve trained really well this week, putting a lot of things into practice. So fingers crossed, everything goes alright tomorrow.
“It’s a development stage for them, but they also need to learn how to win. Whoever plays, they have to have that winning mentality. They’re all good players and they all want to win, so hopefully we’re set for a successful season.
“We’re expecting a tough match tomorrow against Shrewsbury. They’re a very competitive side and a good footballing team. If the quality of the football good, the decisions making is good, and our defending is good, hopefully the result will be a good one.
“The first game won’t be the be all and end all, but if the habits and the performance levels from the lads are set from the beginning, then they can always build on that.”
