Family Sponsors Turnstile In Memory Of Late Dad

30 August 2017

A family of Rochdale fans have sponsored a turnstile at the Crown Oil Arena in memory of their late Dad, Jack Farrar.

Mr Farrar sadly passed away last year at the age of 89 and his son and daughter have had an eye-catching plaque commissioned as a lasting tribute to their Father.

His family gathered before Saturday’s League One fixture against Bury to unveil the spectacular memorial, which is located on the turnstiles of the Pearl Street Stand, where Mr Farrar watched Dale in action.

Michael Farrar, son of Jack, commented: “My Dad started coming to watch Rochdale when he was just four-years-old and he was a season ticket holder for the majority of his life, so he would have been absolutely amazed and very humbled by this gesture.

“The picture on the plaque is based on a photo of my Dad which was taken at Wembley. We all went to watch Dale there when we reached the play-off final in 2008. He took his flat cap everywhere with him!

“Today has been an emotional day – it has been very overwhelming.”
