We were delighted to receive a surprise visit from former Dale player Cyril Lawrence on Monday.
Born in 1920, Cyril, who is now aged 97, played for Rochdale in the late 1940s and made a total of 48 appearances for the club during his five-year spell here.
A right winger during his time in a Rochdale shirt, he played under Manager Ted Goodier.
Cyril joined Dale from Blackpool and arrived at the Crown Oil Arena from Bloomfield Road for a small fee. After leaving Dale, he went on join Wrexham.
He popped by while out on a drive with family, his first visit to the ground for many years. Cyril told us how he used to travel to training from Salford and that he had very fond memories of his time at the club.
