Youth Team Hit Six Past Wrexham

3 April 2017

The Youth Team were 6-0 winners over Wrexham on Saturday.

Keith Kearney netted a brace, while Neil Kuemo, David Owusu, Joe Renner and Elliott Murray also got their name on the score-sheet in the convincing victory.

Kuemo rode a challenge from the goalkeeper to open the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing at the near post.

The second came shortly before half-time.

After Bradley Wade had pulled off a tremendous save to deny the home side, Dale broke forward and Owusu turned the ball beyond the Wrexham ‘keeper from close range, after latching onto the end of a delivery across goal.

After the break, the goalkeeper spilled a corner and Kearney was the first to react, stabbing the ball home.

On the hour mark, Joe Renner got in on the action. He powered a left-footed first time effort from six-yards into the back of the net from a Joe Piggott cross.

Kearney netted his second and Dale’s fifth of the match six minutes later, after Wrexham failed to deal with a Rochdale corner.

11 minutes from time, Elliott Murray rounded off the scoring, rising highest at a corner to crash a header in under the bar.

The result moves Dale up to fourth in the North West Youth Alliance on 43 points. They’re currently seven points behind league leaders Blackpool, having played two games less.
