Manager Keith Hill has been reflecting on the week as his side prepare to face Shrewsbury Town on Saturday...
Dale bounced back from last weekend’s draw with Northampton Town with a victory over Port Vale on Tuesday and Hill says he was delighted with the response of the players.
He told Dale PlayerHD: “The players lifted themselves because we don’t dwell too much on previous performances. We try and draw a line under it as quickly as we possibly can so we can move onto the next game.
“To get the three points like we did on Tuesday against Port Vale was good. It’s what the players needed and I think it’s what they deserved.
“It has been a good week when you consider that we’ve achieved four points out of the available six.”
Eighth placed Dale have five matches left to play this season and Hill is taking one game at a time.
“We play each game individually and we play the opponent that is next on the calendar, so we’re just looking at it like that. Mauricio Pochettino [Spurs Manager] said during the week that they’re not actually playing Chelsea, they’re playing their next opponent and that’s all we’re doing.
“And we’re looking up. We’ve got 61 points and we’ve won 17 games. We’ve got 5 games remaining so it’s positive.”
Keith Keane is back in contention after serving a two game ban. Hill welcomes his addition but says he’ll look to pick the right side to face the Shrews.
“Keith Keane is a big player for us and he’s done superbly well for us. He found himself out of the side because got suspended for a sending off which could have been avoided. As a result of him being sent off
we’ve got four points from two games and so I’ve got to make sure I pick the right side for the opposition that we’re playing,
“We’re going into the game with players coming back into the squad and players in good form. It should be a good fixture.”
