Matty Lund: That Three Point Feeling

19 September 2016

Goal scorer Matty Lund spoke to Dale PlayerHD following Rochdale’s 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town on Saturday…

The victory was Dale’s first league victory of the 2016-17 season and Lund admits there’s nothing better than that three point feeling.

“We [the players] are excited to have got the three points, because the lads battled really hard today. We’ve not had that feeling since the final day of last season so it was good to get the three points.

“We can now concentrate on getting up the table and getting back to where we should be. I know we’re a lot better than the table suggests at the moment.”

Lund opened the scoring after heading home from a Donal McDermott delivery 10 minutes into the match. It takes his tally for the season so far to two following his goal in Dale’s EFL Cup second round tie v QPR at Loftus Road.

“It was a great ball in from Donal,” said the midfielder.

“That’s my second goal of the season so it was good to get on the score-sheet again. I’m happy to be scoring and playing.”

Next up for Dale is a trip to the Den to face Millwall. Lund says the players will go into the game with confidence.

“All of the games we’ve played this season have been close. We haven’t been beaten by a large margin, so we know we are capable of nicking the points, whether that be one point or three points, so we’ll go
there with confidence.”
