Goalscorer Calvin Andrew says Saturday’s 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic was a team effort.
The forward’s 25th minute header proved to be the only goal of the game at The Valley, after Josh Lillis denied Johnnie Jackson from the spot in the second half.
“It was a real team effort,” said Andrew.
“We defended really well and we deserved the win. I think we were the better team and we were set up better.
“We got the early goal and we had to dig in. I thought we showed great character.
“The Gaffer was clever in making the changes when he did and the lads who came on [as substitutes] helped us brilliantly. I’m really, really happy with the result.”
Saturday’s win was Dale’s fourth on the bounce and their sixth game without a defeat.
“Anyone who had come to our games earlier in the season would have known that we weren’t far off in a lot of the games. We were giving away silly goals and late goals through mini bad decisions which were costing us games and points. We’ve got that right now and we’re on a roll.”
