A Birthday To Remember For One Of Dale's Oldest Fans

22 November 2016

A Birthday to remember for one of Dale's oldest fans...

A Rochdale fan for over 70 years, Joan Watts recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

To mark the occasion, the Board of Directors invited Mrs Watts and her son to attend Saturday’s League One fixture against Swindon Town as a guest of the club, and they were, of course, treated to a 4-0 win over the Robins.

Mrs Watts attended the Crown Oil Arena for the first time back in 1943, on a date with her late husband. She was also present at the Notts County game in 1949 when Dale pulled in a record crowd over over 24,000!

The 90-year-old is an exile based in Suffolk but attends at least one home match a season, whilst her son Neil attends as many games as possible.

Mrs Watts is pictured above with Saturday's mascot Callum Flood, who is just two-years-old.
