Michael Rose: Confidence Is High At The Minute

26 March 2016

Michael Rose has told Dale PlayerHD that the confidence currently surrounding the squad gave the players the belief to turn Friday’s game against Southend United on its head.

The Shrimpers had taken the lead shortly before the half hour mark but Rochdale remained positive and came from behind to record a magnificent 4-1 win after producing a dominant second half display.

“The first half was a bit even and they’ve nicked a goal to go in front,” said Rose as he reflected on the game.

“The confidence is quite high at the minute. We’ve had a good run lately and that confidence gave us the belief to get back into the game.

“Following on from last week’s win [over Oldham Athletic] we needed to put a performance in today. The first half was a bit sloppy and a bit ugly but to go in at half time level gave us a bit of a lift.

“We had to come out in the second half and up our game. The Gaffer said in his bit at half time that we needed to turn it on and we did that in the second half. We put the press on and came out deserved winners.

Dale are back in action on Easter Monday as they make the trip to face automatic promotion hopefuls Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

"We’ve got to go into the game and every other game with confidence. Every game is different, every opposition is different but if we stick to our plan and stick to what we do then I think it should be a good game. Hopefully we can come away with a result," said Rose.
