Keith Hill On Lewis Alessandra’s York Loan Move

11 March 2016

Manager Keith Hill hopes Lewis Alessandra’s loan spell at York City can have a positive effect on the forward.

Alessandra joined the League Two side on a month long loan earlier this week and the Gaffer hopes he can use the game time to re-kindle his form.

Hill told Dale PlayerHD: “I was keen for Lewis to go out on loan to get game time, but I think he was less keen,” smiled Hill.

“Like I’ve previously said, there are one or two players who I believe should be going out on loan but haven’t showed too much enthusiasm to do that.

“I’m glad that he has gone and has taken the opportunity to play games, which could give him the opportunity to play for us. That’s the way it goes in football.

“The game time that he gets at York is really important. They’ve taken him on good trust that he’s going to turn up and provide the goods because they’re in a perilous position. I hope he does the business because he’s a long time needing games. I’m glad he has gone to York to prove that he’s capable of the type of performances that we recruited him because of.”

And Hill says Alessandra has the opportunity to play himself back into his plans.

“Everybody does when they’re contracted to the football club.

"There’s a reason why we recruited Lewis and I don’t believe we’ve seen the best of him on the training pitch or in the games.

“I hope he re-kindles the type of form that made him one of our signing priorities.”
