Football League Girls Cup (U13s)

26 January 2016

Pupils from Cardinal Langley recently represented Rochdale AFC at the regional finals of the Football League Girls Cup.

The Football League Girls Cup competition is a six-a-side competition for U13 girls that culminates in a grand final prior to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium in March.

The road to the Finals started at the beginning of the year with each Football League club organising a local competition for local schools wishing to take part. Cardinal Langley were the winners of the Rochdale High Schools tournament.

At the regional finals, they performed superbly, but after beating Bradford City, they went on to lose against Leeds United, Hull City and Middlesbrough, bringing an end to their road to Wembley adventure.

A presentation for the girls will be held during half time at Saturday’s League One fixture v Burton Albion.
