Calvin Andrew believes that Saturday’s 3-0 win over Walsall was the most complete performance so far this season.
Andrew, who netted a brace in the victory, was a happy man after the game.
“Walsall are a really good side,” he told Dale PlayerHD.
“They might not have looked it today because we pressed really well, putting them under a lot of pressure. Tactically we were sound, which made a massive difference. It was a great performance against a good team. Everyone was really at it today.”
He continued: “My old man was here, so it’s a little New Year present for him. The goals have been coming for the last couple of games – I’ve been getting closer and closer, and working harder and harder. Things just hadn’t been dropping for me so I’m pleased to get on the score-sheet.
“But it was an amazing team performance from the guys, so all plaudits to them and the staff.
“We really turned up today and as a unit we worked for each other really well. I’m just happy to be getting on the end of a couple of chances and getting the goals.”
And Andrew says the performance and the win gives the squad huge confidence going into the second half of the season.
“It just goes to show how good the squad is and how good we can play if we’re on it every game. It’s a confidence boost going into the New Year and hopefully we can take it into the next game.”
