Keith Hill's Post Match Reaction: Fleetwood Town

23 February 2016

Manager Keith Hill spoke to Dale PlayerHD after Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town, giving his assessment on the game...

"I think we were fortunate to keep the clean sheet,” said Hill.

“A lot of our general defending was good but some of the decisions we made were unexplainable.

“I was happy for the opposition to have possession in deep areas and in the first 25 minutes of the game they didn’t hurt us at all. But then we hurt ourselves, which gave the opposition encouragement.

“We had one or two good opportunities but then we started to make silly decisions and that annoys me because we are better than that. I can’t explain why we go from one extreme to another during the course of a game, and it’s happening game after game.

“But the most important thing is the three points and we got them.

"We got the result and that’s all that matters. It was great to get a good result tonight.”

Joe Bunney's first half goal earned Dale the three points at Spotland. It was Bunney's fourth goal in three games and Hill is pleased for the young forward.

“It’s superb. He’s in good form but he’s very, very tired today. It’s a big ask for him because it’s difficult for strikers when they’re having to close the back four and the goalkeeper down who are keeping possession."
