Manager Keith Hill's Post-Match Reaction - Peterborough United

6 August 2016

Manager Keith Hill reflects on Dale’s opening day defeat to Peterborough United…

Rochdale were cruelly denied at least a deserved point, after the visitors capaitalised on mistake to claim a late victory at the Crown Oil Arena.

Hill told Dale PlayerHD: “To be honest, I was really pleased with what we did and how we did it.

“We know that the difficulty of playing against Peterborough is stopping them from scoring. To come in 2-2 at half time was a really poor reflection of the first half – we should have been 4-2 in front.

“We’ve been working on the concentration aspect all week with respect to what to do when we’re in possession against Peterborough to stop them scoring, and unfortunately we didn’t quite have the concentration levels. It has to be a 90 minute concentration.”

He continued: “I was encouraged by a lot of what I saw – the attacking intent and for a large share of the game, the defensive unit. I thought it was good against a very attacking side, so I’m reasonably pleased.

“It is difficult to gauge how well pre-season has gone but I saw a lot of what I expect from our team and on another day we don’t lose that game. But unfortunately most people, including the players, will remember the mistake at the end.”
