Keith Keane Joins Rochdale On Loan From Cambridge United

31 August 2016

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Keith Keane.

The 29-year-old has joined Dale from Cambridge United until January 2017.

The experienced Keane can play at full-back, centre-back or in midfield, and has clocked up over 350 senior appearances during his career so far.

Keane graduated from the youth ranks at Luton Town and played for Hatters across four divisions, including the Championship.

Leaving Luton after nine years at senior level, he went on to join Preston North End in 2012, where he made almost 70 appearances during his three year spell in the North West. A move to Cambridge United followed in 2015. He has also enjoyed loan stays at Stevenage.

After putting pen to paper, Keane commented: “I’m very excited to be here. I’ve worked hard throughout pre-season and I’m desperate to get back playing football.

“I’ve spoken to Keith Hill a few times over the years and I’ve come to watch Rochdale in the past because I’ve got a couple of friends here [Ian Henderson and Calvin Andrew].

“I love the way that Rochdale play - they have a certain style about them that I enjoy watching. I’ve always thought that I’d like to be part of that team and hopefully that time will be now.

“As much as you want to play football, you’ve got to be in an environment where you can enjoy it as well as working hard. They [Ian and Calvin] have had nothing but good things to say about the manager, the club and the place itself – they thoroughly enjoy it.

“That weighed in on my decision to come here.”

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Keith!
