Manager Keith Hill looks ahead to Tuesday night’s EFL Cup tie v Chesterfield at the Crown Oil Arena…
Rochdale welcome fellow League 1 side Chesterfield to the Crown Oil Arena on Tuesday night in the first round of the EFL Cup.
The game against the Spireites is Dale’s second home match in the space of three days, after hosting Peterborough United on the opening day of the 2016-17 season.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Hill commented: “Chesterfield are a very good side, and again, they’re a club that gives young players opportunities. They’ve sold a lot of players so their business model is very good as well.
“It’ll be a difficult game for us but it’s one we’re looking forward to because I got a lot of encouragement out of what we did on Saturday. When you look at the amount of goal scoring opportunities we created then it was really good, but we can’t fall for the ‘we’re playing all the football but they’re scoring all the goals’ analogy.
“I hope we can reflect the way that we want to play with a better end result on Tuesday night.”
And Hill confirmed he will make changes for the fixture as he takes fatigue and injuries into account.
