Dale to close Pearl Street Stand & Sandy Lane Terrace for EFL Trophy matches.
Following on from the discussions at the recent Fans Forum, whereby the club asked supporters for their views on closing certain areas of the ground for Dale's EFL Trophy games, we can confirm that the Pearl Street Stand and the Sandy Lane Terrace will be closed for the fixtures against Sunderland and Notts County.
As a result, the Main Stand will be open to home fans, while visiting supporters will be housed in the Willbutts Lane Stand.
After receiving a general indication of support of the idea from fans at the forum, Chief Executive Colin Garlick promised those present that he would look into into how much money could be saved by closing both stands.
After compiling a costing, we can confirm the indicative cost savings amount to approximately £900, when taking stewards, turnstile operators and catering staff into account. Other benefits will include a reduction in catering wastage and labour costs, both pre and post-match.
Rochdale Football Club is grateful for the cooperation and understanding of home supporters on this matter.
