Nathaniel Mendez-Laing: It's Happy Days

11 April 2016

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing spoke to Dale PlayerHD after the weekend’s 2-1 win over Peterborough United…

He netted Rochdale’s second of the afternoon against his former side.

“It’s always a good feeling to score, Peterborough or not. I always want to score when I go out there. We wanted the three points today and we’ve come away with them so it’s happy days.

“I thought we started very well and were on the front foot. We didn’t put away all our chances but it was pleasing to go in at half-time leading. The Gaffer said to us at half-time to go out and do it again. I think they changed their formation which was hard for us to work out but we stuck in there and got the three points.

“Because we didn’t get the win against Doncaster, which we had hoped for, we badly wanted the three points."

With five games left to play, the play-off dream is still alive for Rochdale with the side still in with a small shout of securing a top six finish.

Mendez-Laing says the players aren't looking too far ahead.

“We’re just taking it one game at a time. If we can win all our games and the teams above us drop points, then that’s great, but we’re just focusing on finishing with as many points as possible. No matter what happens, I personally think we’ve done well this season.”
