December started with a trip to Aldershot Town in the second round of the FA Cup.
Conrad Logan was the star man as a depleted Rochdale and the Shots played out a goal-less draw ESS Stadium. He pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep the home-side at bay. Manager Keith Hill’s preparations were hampered in the lead up to the game as the illness, which had been affecting the squad for some time, showed no signs of relenting.
A week later, Dale were back on the road and made the long journey to Colchester United - the travelling fans were rewarded with a 4-1 win. Matty Lund, Peter Vincenti, Ian Henderson and Jack O’Connell were all on the score-sheet in the victory.
Days later and Rochdale were back in action at Spotland as they hosted Aldershot Town in the FA Cup replay. After stalemate in the first game, there were five goals to savour in the second meeting as Dale booked their place in the next round with a 4-1 win. Matty Done netted a hat-trick in the victory, while Peter Vincenti scored the other.

The mid-week game was Dale’s first of the week, with Notts County the visitors four days later. Rochdale were forced to settle for a point after THAT controversial goal, which saw the Magpies draw level deep in stoppage time.
The month ended with back-to-back defeats as Keith Hill’s side firstly lost 2-1 away at Scunthorpe United on Boxing Day and 2-0 against Fleetwood Town at Spotland on December 28th.
