Hill: We Got What We Wanted Out Of It

23 July 2015

Manager Keith Hill spoke to Dale Player following Tuesday night’s pre-season friendly win over Blackburn Rovers…

Ian Henderson netted twice as Dale came from behind to record a 2-1 win over the Championship side.

Hill is pleased with what he saw on the night, but says you can’t read into the score-line.

“I don’t think you can take the score-line into consideration because I don’t know where Blackburn are at in their pre-season preparations,” said Hill.

“I know where we’re at, though, and tonight was better than what we’ve previously had. I’m reasonably pleased with a lot of what happened.

“I’m relatively pleased with the players’ application because they were playing a little bit tired.

“And it’s nice to score the goals and create goal scoring opportunities.

“Blackburn are a good side and when they had overloads in the first half and in the first part of the second half, they were causing a few problems, but I think we matches them for goal scoring opportunities.

“It was a good entertaining game but we also got what we wanted out of it. All we’re really focusing on is Peterborough United and beyond, and preparation is going according to plan.

“I’m trying to bring two players in, but depending on Lundy’s injury, I might need to look at a third signing.”
