Preview: Nottingham Forest

Rochdale kick-off 2015 with an FA Cup third round tie against Championship side Nottingham Forest at Spotland.

It’s the first ever competitive meetings between the two sides.

Dale booked their place in the third round following replay wins over Northampton Town and Aldershot Town, while Forest enter the competition at this stage.

It’s the second consecutive season that Rochdale have reached the third round, after hosting Leeds United on this weekend a year ago. After an excellent performance and memorable goals from Scott Hogan and Ian Henderson, Dale were 2-0 winners on the day, securing a rare passage to the fourth round.

Saturday’s visitors were 5-0 victors over West Ham in the third round last season, before exiting the competition to Sheffield United in the fifth round.

Forest. managed by Stuart Pearce, currently sit 11th in the Championship on 31 points, nine points outside the play-off places.

Their top striker is Britt Assombalonga, who is on 13 goals for the season so far.
