Manager Keith Hill has told Dale Player that “we don’t have to sell and we won’t sell” in January.
“We won’t lose any players in this January transfer window to any team above us, whether it be League One, Championship or Premier League teams. We don’t have to sell and we won’t sell,” said Hill.
“If I feel as though there is a time to address the playing squad that we’ve got at this moment in time, and I feel as though it is right to accept a bid for one of our players, then it may well be in the summer.
“You have to strike the right balance between being selfish and making sure you’re doing the right thing by the player because they’re good lads and we don’t pay top drawer money. There has to be a breaking point or a sensible understanding that we can’t stand in that player’s way because we might be standing in the way of massive financial fruits for one of our players. We haven’t done that in the past and we won't do that.
“But we don’t need to sell and we won’t sell in January.
“I believe there are probably three of four players who maybe need to go out and get games under their belt through a loan etc, but at this moment in time I’m really happy with the majority of the squad.”
