Hill: There's No Massive Call For Recruitment

6 January 2015

Manager Keith Hill says he’ll continue to put his trust in his young players as Dale enter the second half of the season.

Hill has struck a positive balance between youth and experience, utilising Academy graduates in his successful squad, and despite the January transfer window now in full swing, Hill believes there’s no need for a recruitment drive this month.

He told Dale Player: “I feel as though I’m in a position now where I can trust the younger players even more going into the second part of the season and I don’t think there’s a massive call for recruitment.

“Part of the development now is preparing the players and the squad for the second half of the season, but also next season. We’re very mindful of the fact that while we are in the position that we’re in [in the league] we still have to get the points on the board in order to secure our League One status, which is very, very difficult.

“If I have to recruit then I will, but at this moment in time I’m reasonably happy with the squad. We’re a bit shallow on defenders – I might have to recruit there, but I’m reasonably happy going forward into the next 23 games with the players that we’ve got.”
