Hill Pleased With Home Draw

6 January 2015

Rochdale will host Premier League side Stoke City later this month after Monday night’s FA Cup draw threw up a meeting between the two sides in the fourth round of the competition.

Manager Keith Hill has told Dale Player that it’s a fixture he’ll look forward to.

“I’m just glad that we’re in the FA Cup and I’m glad that we’re at home. I think being at home gives us a better opportunity. We’ve also got a great pitch as well.

“Stoke are a big footballing club with respect to tradition, Premier League status and they have a great Manager in Mark Hughes. Their style of play is superb so it’s going to be a difficult proposition, but I think the fact that we’re at home gives us more of an opportunity and we’ll look forward to it.

“I’ve said since we beat Nottingham Forest that on any one given 90 minutes, it doesn’t matter who you are playing against, regardless of the resources, regardless of the finances, or the difference between Premier League clubs and League One and League Two clubs, it is eleven v eleven plus substitutes and for that one game alone you have a fighting chance and that’s what you’ve got, 100%.”

The full interview is available to view on Dale Player.
