Beech: Stick To Our Traits

16 January 2015

Assistant Manager Chris Beech has been reflecting on a positive week at the club, as well as looking ahead to Saturday’s League One fixture v Crawley Town, in his latest Dale Player interview.

“I was so pleased for Calvin,” said Beech as he looked back on the frontman's last minute winner at Bradford City.

“He’s a really good character and he’s very, very good with the younger players. He has a real mature head and plays with his brain. He has been patient and has never, ever not been conforming to what we’re trying to achieve if sometimes he’s not getting exactly what he wants, and he’s always there when asked.

“When you ask Calvin to do, he does and he really applies himself. I was really pleased for him, as the players were, and so were the fans with them singing ‘he scores when wants’. It was brilliant,” smiled Beech.

Crawley Town are the visitors to Spotland this Saturday for Rochdale’s first home league match of 2015.

Dale were 4-0 winners over the Reds when the two sides met at the Checkatrade.com Stadium in September, but Beech says they’ll be taking nothing for granted.

“It [the 4-0 win] means absolutely nothing other than the fact that when we played Crawley away we were excellent.

“Feel good factors, confidence and buoyancy are all good words, but our actions will speak louder and we’ll look to implement them actions on Saturday against what I believe will be a team that’s searching at the moment rather than accepting their circumstances. They’re not dead in the water at all, so we’ve got to make sure that we turn up.”

He continued: “We’ve got a game against a team that are looking to get a win under Dean [Saunders], who is now in charge. They’re going to be working really hard and they’ve probably got a zest of energy within that. They’ve had a couple of decent draws so they’ll be at full tilt on Saturday.

“We’ve got to make sure that we stick to our traits that look after us. We’re stronger when we do that and we’ve worked hard this week to implement them on Saturday.”
