Record Attendance At Half Term Courses

24 February 2015

Rochdale AFC’s community team saw a record number of youngsters attend their latest multi-sport courses.

The sessions were held at three venues across the Borough during the half term holidays, with 114 kids taking part in the fun activities at the Soccer Factory, 31 attending at Siddal Moor Sports College and 29 at Wardle Academy.

This smashed all records for the February half term period during any other year.

An added bonus for the youngsters was the visit of some of Dale’s first team players.

Michael Rose entertained attenders at Soccer Factory, while Josh Lillis answered numerous football related questions at Wardle Academy.

Ashley Eastham and Sean McGinty took part in a penalty shoot-out at Siddal Moor Sports College.

Those who attended received a free ticket for Saturday’s League One fixture against Chesterfield, an autographed Dale football and a certificate.

Keith Hicks, Head of Dale in the Community, commented: “We had an unbelievable week with a record number of children attending the multi-sport sessions.

“The presence of the players is a massive bonus for us, with parents complimenting the way they interacted with the kids.

“I must thank Keith Hill and his management team for their support, as well as all the youngsters who got involved. A great week was had!”
